FTPA partner Rajeev Sharma Fokeer who co-heads FTPA’s London office spoke as co-panellist at a conference held in Edinburgh on 11 June on the theme of “Which Seat to Choose” organised jointly by the Scottish Branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and Association des Juristes Franco-Britanniques (AJFB). Rajeev defended Paris as not just the most used seat in ICC arbitration cases but also as most suited for cross-border Court litigation, with the recent birth of the International Chamber of the Paris Commercial Court, composed of English speaking judges and equivalent appellate jurisdiction (Chambre Internationale de la Cour d’appel de Paris or “CICAP”) with innovative options to allow for flexibility in proceedings to meet needs of foreign parties. Rajeev faced strong competition from Dublin, Edinburgh, London and Switzerland.
