FTPA assists the Are & Why SAS group in its sale of K-WAY France to BasicNet

April 24 2022

FTPA advised the Are & Why SAS group on the sale of 100% of the share capital of K-Way France to BasicNet.

Since 2013, the Are & Why SAS group has relaunched the 1980s windbreaker brand by handling distribution, communication and marketing and giving it a premium positioning. The K-Way® brand was born in 1965 in France and was acquired in 2004 by the Italian company BasicNet, which also owns Kappa, Superga or Sebago.

Today K-Way France has 36 points of sale with a mix of branches and affiliates, a presence in Printemps and Citadium department stores and a network of 180 multi-brand stores throughout France.

BasicNet, whose consolidated turnover was 296 million euros last year, has decided to expand the brand’s potential in 2021. The aim of the transaction is to consolidate the growth of the K-Way brand in one of its key markets. The acquisition will also allow to anticipate the next phase of investments for the growth of the brand and thus promote the progress of K-Way’s global projects.

FTPA acted for the Are & Why SAS group with a team consisting of Antoine Gautier-Sauvagnac, partner, François-Xavier Beauvisage, counsel and Agathe Laporte, associate.
