Malik Idri leads the competition law team, specializing in both French and European competition law. He represents clients before the French Competition Authority and the European Commission in cases involving cartels and abuse of dominant position.

With significant experience in regulated sectors, particularly telecommunications and energy, Malik is also a recognized authority on follow-on actions for damages resulting from competition law infringements before the courts.

He advises on all aspects of merger control, including notifications to competition authorities, transaction structuring, foreign investment reviews, and foreign subsidy controls.

Malik began his career as an associate at Clifford Chance, then spent eight years at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, where he was made partner in 2022. He is recognized as a “Next Generation Partner” by The Legal 500 EMEA.

A committed contributor to the field, Malik regularly publishes articles in the Concurrences journal (notably in the “Follow-on Litigation Chronicle”), a key reference in European and national competition law. He is also a frequent speaker at conferences organized by this publication. Additionally, he is an associate professor at the University of Aix-Marseille, where he teaches as part of the LL.M. program in competition and distribution law.

A member of the Paris Bar since 2012, Malik holds a PhD from the University of Aix-Marseille and a Master’s in International Business Law from ESSEC.

He is also a member of the Association of Lawyers Practicing Competition Law (APDC).
